“It’s just… I’m like a turtle. I love my shell, and I’m very content in the shadows. I’ve never really wanted to be in the spotlight, you know.”

This one wasn’t on my radar at all before I received it in the most fun package I could imagine from Entangled Teen. I’m glad I gave it a chance because it was a super cute, clean, age appropriate teen romcom. It focused around a plus size girl whose friend nominates her for the homecoming court. Used to being a bit of a wall flower, she has to navigate this new world of popularity and attention. And deal with the hunk QB who she has been paired with.
Ariel is entirely relatable. There are lots of body positive, self acceptance messages throughout. That paired with a slow burn romance that felt much more real world speed than we see in novels of this genre. I loved all the movie references (especially 10 Things I Hate About You).
Read this one if you liked Erin Hahn’s More than Maybe. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
