REVIEW: The Ravenous Dead

Keira is a woman with no past, well that she can remember anyway, she has landed in the town of Blighty and realized she can see ghosts. Like anyone with these unusual skills, she’s found a job as the caretaker of a graveyard. There she can help the ghosts find the thing that is keeping them from moving on. When she is suddenly tormented by a dark shade who seems to be consuming other ghosts before they can pass on, she has to figure out just who this is terrorizing her new home town.

I found this one cute. I’m not sure that’s what I expected when I started reading but it reminded me in a lot of ways of The Library of the Dead. There is a big baddie and scenes of violence but the overall vibe I got from this was cute. Keira is sweet and caring, maybe a little reckless but surrounded by supportive friends and a resilience driven by the need to help others. There is a mystery about who the big baddie is but I wouldn’t call it a mystery with a capital M. Some people have even categoriezed this one as a thriller, I don’t think it’s that at all. Maybe the last quarter has some scenes that are page turners but overall this one goes at a steady pace. ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Thanks to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this novel. All opinions above are my own.

If you could have the power to see ghosts, would you want to?
